About P’tit

Good things come in p’tit packages.

P’tit is a project of passion of two renowned film makers who 20 years ago decided to create a haven of inspiration in which they could plant and nurture their ideas.

The Provençal domain where P’tit was established dates back to 1648 and today it comprises approximately 35 hectares located in the heart of the Luberon, some 40km from Aix-en-Provence in the South of France. Over the years, the land has been transformed into a sanctuary of tranquillity, with vineyards, olive groves and wild flowers, in which nature has been given her free-rein to do what she does best.

P’tit is small but works diligently, little by little, to create exceptional organic wine, olive oil and honey. We follow biodynamic principles to seek sustainability, leaving the land in a healthier condition for future generations to enjoy.

We are an eclectic team – our oenologist, Pascal, affectionately named the sorcerer of the soil – Verity, our blind equestrian who as well as looking after the land and its inhabitants including our horses, also opens our eyes to a different perspective – and Florent, the protector of all plants and creatures living in his care, including our thriving colony of honey bees. The head of our team is mother nature herself, who keeps us all on our toes surprising us at every turn.

We live and work on so many sensory levels and try to transmit this sensorial pallet to our organic and biodynamic wine, olive oil and honey.

WHY IS P’TIT BIODYNAMIC?

The choice of biodynamic farming reflects P’tit’s passion to preserve the land and nature in order to create superior wine, olive oil and honey. This is the P’tit philosophy.

Our domain is perfectly positioned to harness nature’s magical powers – her Mistral wind dries the mildew, her fresh water springs hydrate the vines and olive trees, and her rocky terrain reflects the sunshine up to the fruits and flowers, whilst retaining the moisture in the soil.

HOW DOES P’TIT NURTURE THE LAND?

We try, whenever possible, to use natural practices to sustain and farm our land. Horses are used to plough and work the soil, whilst sheep are our team of P’tit’s cleaners, who nibble and naturally reduce invasive plant growth. Our woodland is left untouched as a haven for all animals and a variety of insects and birds. We are hoping to employ a willing llama as fire security, to help us munch back flammable plants present in P’tit Domaine’s woodland.

P’tit’s busy bees spend their summer days pollinating the domain’s wild flowers, which are left to grow freely. In return, the P’tit bees give us some of their honey to fill our jars, leaving them with enough honey for a happy winter.

There is one essential ingredient that needs to be considered when nurturing the land and that is water. We are fortunate at the domain to have several springs and are mindful to ensure that the memory of water and its natural path through the land remain eternally respected and unobstructed.

HOW DO THE P’TIT BEES HELP IN THE WINEMAKING PROCESS?

To create great wines, P’tit relies on a thriving, balanced ecosystem — and the P’tit bees play a vital role. Pollinating both the vines and the wildflowers across the domain, the P’tit bees are essential to the health of the land. They thrive on the biodiversity of our vineyard and olive grove, helping us eliminate the need for synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilisers. Bees and vines really do make the perfect biodynamic duo, a natural partnership at the heart of P’tit.
